What is a “Membership Adventure Club”? Mary’s Adventure is a GLBT tour company. We market our product and company as a membership adventure club to attract new travelers and keep them within our “club” or family. We will offer special member discounts and perks that non-members will not receive, including our new member portion of our website that will launch in November 2008!

What is the membership fee?

The first year of membership in Mary’s Adventure is free. After the first year, memberships start at only $4.99 per month. Members receive special adventure discounts, free promotional adventures, gear and more member benefits. Additional member levels, promotions and benefits will debut November 2008.

Adventure FAQ’s
I'm traveling alone. Do I have to pay the single supplement? No, you generally don't. Mary’s Adventure can assign you a room to share. Or, if you prefer, you can pay the single supplement and be guaranteed your own room. If your reservation is made less than 45 days before a tour, you may be required to pay the single if a roommate can't be found.

How many singles and how many couples will be on the trip?

This, of course, varies from tour to tour. Most people who will travel with Mary’s Adventure are singles traveling alone, although we do plan to have couples on our adventures as well! Joining a group trip is a great way to meet people with like interests. You may join the trip solo, but quickly become part of the gang. Where are the other guests from? Mary’s Adventure hosts a diversity of people, it is not unusual to have guests from all parts of the United States and from around the world.

What about straight folks on the trips?

Mary’s Adventure is “straight-friendly.” Generally, if there are straight people on the tours they will be friends or family of a gay guest. How much experience is required? Generally, very little experience is required. In most cases, Mary’s Adventure will teach the skills necessary for a safe and enjoyable experience. So if you've never ridden a horse, attacked a class IV rapid, or climbed a mountain peak, this is your chance to do it in a fun and supportive environment. Chances are you're not the only person on the adventure who signed up to learn something new.

What kind of physical shape do I need to be in?

This varies from trip to trip. We rate all trips from easy to challenging. The best thing to do is to go online and view the description of the adventure and the activities we will be doing. Most of our adventures are in the easy to moderate range.

What is the age of people on the tour?

Most people on Mary’s Adventure trips are in their 30's to 50's. But we will have people as young as 20 and as young at heart as 70. Your age isn't important; your attitude is.

How many people will be on this trip?

This also varies depending on the locale. Most trips have between 16-24 people. Small groups allow personalized attention and flexibility. Some of the events that Mary’s Adventure hosts like our Flagstaff Pride dventure or Telluride Gay Ski Week adventure in 2009 are attended by hundreds, even thousands, but Mary’s Adventure creates small group venues so people can get to know each other.

Will I fit into the group?

Some people are understandably leery of group travel. You may ask,“Will I fit in?” or “Will I meet people that I like?” In the past guests have described their Mary’s Adventure experience as “an instant feeling of belonging,” and “great companionship.” We strive to help make your adventure memorable.

What are the accommodations like?

Again, this will vary from destination to destination. Generally, Mary’s Adventure uses properties in the three and four-star category. In many circumstances, we've found unique properties that reflect the character of the local cultural. In some cases we will stay at clean, yet efficient hotels or even motels. We have chosen these for a reason. Not always price. Sometimes it is proximity of events, other times 3-5 star hotels are simply not available in the areas we are traveling in.

How do I sign up for a trip?

What is the deposit?

A deposit of 50% of the adventure price is required to reserve your spot. Deposits and payments can be paid by Visa, MasterCard, American Express or check or money order.

What about the final payment?

At 45 days prior to a departure, final payment is due. Payment can be made within your account online using a credit card, or by sending in a check by deadline.

What is the deposit refund policy?

If you must cancel a reservation, we will refund your payments except for a cancellation fee, which is based on how many days before the departure date you cancel. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.
What about travel insurance? Travel insurance is highly recommended. Within 45 days of the trip the deposit and payment is entirely non-refundable. Insurance covers illness, missed flights, lost luggage, theft, and medical evacuation. You can purchase insurance through Mary’s Adventure.

How about airfare?

In most cases, airfare is not included in the package price. You are responsible for getting to the arrival city and back home from the departure city. If you are unsure about getting your tickets, please contact the Mary’s Adventure office. We can advise you.

Can I speak with someone who has done the trip?

Certainly. Call our office during business hours and we will tell you about a specific tour. We can also refer you to others who have done it, although in some cases we may be doing a tour for the first time.
